– Passport Day in the USA – September 17, 2011
On the 17th of September this year, the US Dept of State is hosting a “Passport Day”. Essentially anyone can show up at a passport office without an appointment and get a standard or expedited passport.
Here was a nice note I received from a Public Affairs Officer at the State Department:
Hi Dave,I work at the U.S. Dept. of State, and I must say, we love your blog entry from
2008 about “Getting a Same-Day Passport.” It’s a wealth of accurate information
for U.S. travelers - and that is hard to come by these days (the accurate part,
anyway).I am writing to you because I have been trying unsuccessfully to post a comment
on the site about Passport Day in the USA, an event the Department hosts this
year. It is taking place on Saturday, September 17. For this day only, you may
apply directly at passport agencies without making an appointment. Both routine
and expedited processing service may be requested. This is a great opportunity for all travelers - families going on winter
vacations, students participating in upcoming study abroad programs, or those
planning to travel to London for the 2012 Olympic Games - to apply for a
first-time passport or to renew their current passport.More information is available on http://travel.state.gov/passportday
I hope you can share this with your readers in the comments section of your blog
Many thanks,
or with another blog entry.
Elizabeth
