Badmouthing Competitors

Great post by Tom Peters on Badmouthing Competitors.

Never badmouth a competitor, a colleague or really any individual. Badmouthing so rarely helps you and often hurts you (unnecessarily). This was one of first things emphasized in college by our fraternity – never badmouth another house.

There is actually a study that confirms that listeners assign the speakers the traits that they speak about. So, call someone lazy and they’ll associate you with laziness.
